Sometimes it’s a no-brainer, such as when you get sued or when you’re arrested or charged with a crime. But keep in mind that people hire lawyers for advice and expertise all of the time, in all kinds of situations. While you may be able to get through a legal problem without hiring a lawyer, you should always remember that when you represent yourself, you might have a “fool for a client,” as the saying goes.
One of the first things to ask yourself in deciding if you should consult an attorney is: “What’s at stake?” When your finances or liberties are in serious jeopardy, the obvious answer is to get legal help. But what is serious?
An ordinary parking summons is a brush with the law, but you need not consult with an attorney to pay the fine or even to fight it. However, if you’ve accumulated a number of unpaid parking tickets and a warrant has been issued for your arrest, you would probably want to hire a lawyer to help you best resolve the situation, and perhaps save you money or even keep you out of jail.
In good times as well as bad, individuals and businesses rely on their lawyer’s advice to understand and secure legal rights and financial interests. Lawyers help clients with estate planning and business negotiations, strategies and transactions. With good legal advice, clients are better prepared to comply with and navigate through the complex mazes of governmental rules and regulations.
It is also a lot easier to rest easily after consulting with experienced lawyers for important undertakings such as tax and estate planning, drafting wills and trusts, negotiating business deals and even pursuing personal family matters such as adopting children.

I have been working at this job for almost 4yrs now I’m 24 and I’m a small guy about 5′3 and 115 pounds and there are a couple people that pick on me I believe because I’m alot smaller than they are I asked to be transfered to another department and I was turned down I believe because I’m a hard worker I know all the positions and when their short staff I’m always there to help out. About 1 year ago I was pushed into a sink nothing was done we both got sent home no one wanted toget involved and just recently I was headbutted and once again people saw what happened and reported it. My supervisor sent us both home didn’t bother toget written statements. He was suspended with pay I was told then I was told to sign a paper stating if if I got into another altercation I would be suspended. I asked why they would fire me for something I did not do I tried to walk away this person continued to persuit me and people had witnessed everything and made statements but now no one wants toget involved and write their statements down so its my word against his and now he is coming back to work and we are suppose to sit down and talk. Once again I asked to be transfered and again was denied. What can I do other than quit and look for another job??

Do I need a lawyer to speak to a family who brought a protection against stalking against my son. My son is now going into the military and will be gone one week after the court date they have arranged. Two weeks from now, or do we just go to court?

How you think when the economic crisis will end? I wish to make statistics of independent opinions!
I had sent my 15 year son to iowa to his dad on mid-September of 08, on hopes that he somehow will do better. It seems that i’m not allowed to see or speak with my son, which this wasn’t a part of the deal. On top of that, while my son lived with us, I never received child support of any kind from his dad. His dad now wants to claim him on his taxes. Does he have that right even if i didn’t give him the ok? What can i do about his dad not letting me have any kind of contact with my son?
